Second Contact / Diamond Ring #1

TSE Diamond Ring 2024 #1

Image obtained April 8, 2024 using an optical configuration resulting in an 270mm f/6 optical system -- employing a Nikon D3500(DX format) with a zoom telephoto lens mounted on an iOptron driven equatorial platform,1/40th second at ISO 400, no filter.

Both of these Diamond Ring images were gleaned from the same digital file -- just requiring different post-processing. In this one (above) the image was not heavily manipulated -- that is, it appears here quite like the original, whereas . . .

 

Second Contact / Diamond Ring In

Image obtained April 8, 2024 using an optical configuration resulting in an 270mm f/6 optical system -- employing a Nikon D3500(DX format) with a zoom telephoto lens mounted on an iOptron driven equatorial platform,1/40th second at ISO 400, no filter.

. . . this image (the lower one) has been slightly suppressed, resulting in a more refined look for the inner Corona and more detail in the visible prominences and ring effect. Both images were adjusted in Camera RAW by employing the dehaze feature, really necessary due to the prevailing cloud cover.
